O’Regan: U.S. ‘not willing’ to negotiate on softwood lumber duty

During a parliamentary committee appearance on Friday, May 28, Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan said that Canada is trying to negotiate a new softwood lumber duty agreement with the U.S., but the U.S. is “not willing to reach an agreement.”

According to the Prince George Citizen, Minister O’Regan says Canada is still trying to reach an agreement with the U.S. He called the softwood lumber duty on Canadian lumber ‘unwarranted,’ ‘unjustified’ and ‘unfair.’
